MEASURE “V” MAINTAINS OUR ROADS
Ridgecrest has approximately 126.1 miles of streets, many of which were in dire need of repair before the implementation of Measure V. Since its approval in 2016, Measure V has funded the rehabilitation of 72% of our roads, with plans to reach nearly 99% by 2030. This consistent investment has significantly improved the driving conditions in our city, reducing vehicle maintenance costs for residents and making our streets safer for everyone.
The funds from Measure V have been used for crucial projects like hot mix asphalt paving, slurry seal programs, and road resurfacing, all of which contribute to extending the lifespan of our roads. Additionally, these funds have enabled Ridgecrest to secure matching funds from state and federal programs, further enhancing our ability to maintain and improve our infrastructure.
However, the job isn’t done. Many roads in Ridgecrest still require attention, and the continued maintenance of those already repaired is essential to prevent them from falling back into disrepair. The cost of neglecting our roads is steep—every year a mile of street goes without maintenance, the cost of future repairs can increase by up to $252,000 due to inflation and worsening conditions.
By renewing Measure V, we ensure that Ridgecrest can continue its road maintenance and rehabilitation efforts without interruption. This measure is not just about preserving what we have but also about investing in the future of our community. Well-maintained roads are safer, more reliable, and contribute to the overall quality of life in Ridgecrest.
Voting YES on Measure V means supporting the continued upkeep of our roads, protecting our investments, and ensuring that Ridgecrest remains a safe and desirable place to live and work. Let’s keep Ridgecrest moving forward—on well-maintained roads.
